Hinton Railroad Days Festival is a two weekend event, held October 20, 21, 27 and 28, 2012. The town of Hinton grew as a result of the railroads, and this event highlights our heritage. The New River Train Excursion runs from Huntington to Hinton each day of the festival, offering a unique view of the fall foliage through the gorge.
We offer a museum with a selection of antiques and railroad memorabilia for all to view. Upstairs will be model train displays, John Henry exhibits and the Dodd farm display. Carriage rides are available for rides through the Hinton Historic District.
Two blocks of Temple Street are lined with vendors offering crafts and food; some of these vendors are Artisans that offer their wares at Tamarack. In the town center park, live music is provided for your listening pleasure.
This is a great opportunity to view the fall foliage along the route of the New River and Greenbrier Rivers. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day and will provide a fun experience for railroad buffs or anyone looking for a unique hometown festival. Special parking is provided for tour buses. Additional information may be obtained by calling the Hinton Railroad Museum at 304-466-5420 or visit hintonwv.com/rrdays.html.
