Wild and Wonderful Rides

Mountainfest Motorcycle Rally - Click here to discover 13 rides originating from the Mountainfest Motorcycle Rally site in Morgantown.

Morgantown - Lots of cool rides around the lake there. Good road is 119 up to PA and then over to I-79 then back to I-68.

Farm Country Ride - One of our favorites! Start on the southern end near Peterstown (Monroe County), a nice small community with a good Dairy Queen for lunch. As you work up U.S. Rt. 219, enjoy the slow pace of the farms, many of which are 3rd or 4th generation. During the spring planting season, many local folks search for arrowheads and other relics from early civilizations of Indian tribes. Rt. 219 is known as the Seneca Trail or Warriors Trail, in reference to the Indians who roamed the area before the Europeans arrived. As you near Union, watch for the Indian Creek Covered Bridge. This restored bridge is a great place for a rest and nice photos. In Union, look for the statue to honor the Confederate soldiers who fought during the Civil War. A Confederate monument in Union? Go figure. As you pass through Lewisburg, take the time to stop, shop and eat. There are many great places in town to visit. As you leave Lewisburg, watch for the sign for the Herns Mill Covered Bridge on the left. As you work along the route, the Greenbrier River is on your left. One of America's last undammed rivers, the Greenbrier meanders through scenic rural countryside. All of the roads on this route are well paved, with nice elevation changes and great twisties. Enjoy!

Morgantown - I have been all over the state except for some sections in Southern West Virginia -- looking forward to checking that out in the near future. West Virginia supposedly has more roads/mileage per person than any state in the union. We also have the highest average elevation east of the Mississippi, and lots of twisty country roads. I have had the privilege of riding some great roads that would put a grin on anyone’s face. So many favorites: W.Va. 72 from Kingwood to the end past Henderson; W.Va. 16 from U.S. 50 to the Virginia line; W.Va. 7 from New Martinsville to Kingwood; U.S. 50 from Grafton to Romney; U.S. 60 (Midland Trail) from Gauley Bridge to Lewisburg; and lots more. Stemple Ridge Road off U.S. 50 at Aurora has some of the best views in the state: stay right at the intersections and at St. George, left to the next road and then right.
