Gov. Manchin Proclaims January 2010 "Learn a Winter Sport" Month

Always wanted to hit the slopes or lace up a pair of skates and try your luck on the ice? Well, hold back no more. Experience West Virginia in all its winter glory and join Gov. Joe Manchin in his proclamation to observe January 2010 as Learn a Snow Sport month.

Every winter the scenic mountains of West Virginia become a playground perfect for skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice skating. With more than 15 feet of snow falling or produced annually, the Mountain State’s winter wonderland is perfect for those who have a desire to get out and play, even when it’s cold outside.

The winter-sports industry in West Virginia contributes more than a quarter of a billion dollars to the state’s economy by attracting nearly one million visitors and employing more than 5,000 people each season.

West Virginia’s resorts are committed to offering the best conditions and services in the region – making sure your snow adventures are worth the effort.
