Cathedral Cafe, Fayetteville
134 S. Court St.
Cathedral Cafe is a great place to hang out, have an incredible cup of coffee, meet friends, and get a fantastic meal. Places like this are hard to find in a city of any size but in a small town like Fayetteville Cathedral is a true gem that helps make your sense of community even stronger!
Coffee, treats, fun place to meet. Easy to find, and in the middle of the best playground in the mountains. NRG rocks!
The people, of course. Pretty good coffee too.
It is always warm and cozy. There is great food and drinks, as well as free wifi. Sit there for any length of time, and you will see climbers, paddlers, hikers and bikers. You can share beta with your friends before you head out to play in the New River Gorge. Wendy is cool too. :)
Chris from Chesapeake Beach, Md.
Comfortable environment; large vaulted ceilings, antiquated stained glass windows, big open dinning room covered with aged oak hardwood flooring, free wifi, walls of books and plenty of seating set the ambiance in the Cafe’s historic building. Add in the friendly staff, wonderfully unique menu coupled with their grand coffee bar and you have the best spot, in the coolest little West Virginia town to have your relaxing breakfast or brunch!
Pat from Boone, N.C.

Cathedral....the perfect place to multi-task; have a meeting (or two), read the paper (or connect and read online), meet and catch up with old and new friends, treat out of town guests to some "local" flavor and leave with a smile with a great cup of coffee.
I recently moved out to Steamboat Springs, CO. It is beautiful and it was time for a change but I miss West Virginia very much. What I miss most is my favorite hangout. Cathedral Cafe is the place I go in order to unwind, relax and meet up with friends. On my days off from work I would go because I knew there would be someone that I wanted to see and catch up with. If the river was prime level for playing I would always stop in the cafe because I knew there were people in there just waiting for something to do. Even when there wasn't anything to do, it was very easy to come in at 8 o'clock a.m. for breakfast and not leave until 2 o'clock p.m. after lunch. When I get up in the morning I think of how badly I wish I was back in Fayetteville to go to the Cafe and see all my friends. To enjoy my coffee and sudoku and not have to wait more than 5 minutes for a friend to walk in the door sit down and start a conversation. I dream too often of my favorite meal, egg spinach and bacon bagel. I think of the people that work there as part of my West Virginia family. On my last day in West Virginia the last place I visited wasn't my friends homes, it was the Cafe. And the day I drive back into West Virginia the first place I'm stopping is the Cafe... unless it's after 4 o'clock p.m. and then it will have to be the next day. But when the clock hits 8 o'clock I will strut myself into that cafe, grab a stool at the bar sip my coffee and be home.
Kyra from Steamboat Springs, Colo.
LOVE the Cathedral Cafe it has the BEST food and atmosphere.
Jennifer from Mount Hope, W.Va.
This is the hub for our town...a place to pop in to grab breakfast/lunch, run into friends, catch up on local happenings, and surf the net. You can also shop there while you're hanging out. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is casual and laid back, and you couldn't ask for a better cup of coffee served with a smile! ALL of our out of town guests ask to go there when they visit...they love it too!
Jenni from Fayetteville, W.Va.
A charming cafe that offers an array of delicious goodies, including wonderful soups, sandwiches and coffees. Their carrot cake is the BEST! The staff is warm and friendly and makes you feel right at home too! A great example of WV hospitality at its finest!

Great food and unique atmosphere where everyone knows everyone or at least acts like it!
This stone building with the beautiful stained-class windows houses a friendly atmosphere with great food. When you enter you are surrounded by books (used, for sale to benefit local charities) and a gracious staff. Whether having just coffee with a friend, enjoying a luscious dessert, or treating yourself to a delicious breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong when you visit this charming hangout. And don't forget to visit the gift shop for that unique item you've been looking for. See you soon!

Doug from Fayetteville, W.Va.
It's so unique. A kid - or an adult - can feel so safe and comfortable inside a giant cathedral drinking hot chocolate, eating veggie paninis, and reading loved books. For an artist, like myself, it's an excellently chilled-out place for me to sit and write.
The Cathedral Cafe is the perfect place in town for a great breakfast, gourmet lunch, or to have Breakfast with Santa. Wendy and her staff excel at customer service and the location is so convenient, right in the heart of historic downtown Fayetteville! The weekly trivia is a fun challenge, and her carrot cake is the best I've ever tasted, hands down!
Jennifer from Fayetteville, W.Va.

The food, staff, location, and atmosphere makes Cathedral Cafe in Fayetteville the perfect West Virginia hangout.
The menu/food is as creative and unique as the location! Located in a former church building, the high ceilings and tall windows make for a special kind of feeling! The owner, Wendy, has created an intimate atmosphere with books shelves, Internet access, a gift shop and more. The food is excellent - and it is just a great place to eat! But you want to linger for the atmosphere! It is really worth a trip to Fayetteville just to visit The Cathedral Cafe!!
