ParsonsParsons is located between the Black Fork and Shavers Fork of the Cheat River.  Nestled between these two scenic waterways, Parsons is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor recreation and experience history.  Traditionally a railroad town, Parsons is the county seat of Tucker County and enjoys the beautiful landscape and close-knit community of rural West Virginia.


ParsonsThere are three beautiful buildings in Parsons that are on the National Registry for Historic Places: the Tucker County Courthouse, the Tucker County Bank Building, and the Western Maryland train depot.  Each building is a wonderful example of historic architecture.  In addition, West Virginia’s Rail Trails runs right through downtown and along the rivers, perfectly located for bikers, hikers, and water-sports enthusiasts.   

For Civil War buffs, a must-see is Corrick’s Ford battlefield.  Located right in Parsons, this destination hosts occasional reenactments and holds great significance in Civil War history.  Five Rivers Campground and numerous bed and breakfasts are at tourists’ disposal throughout the year.  Lastly, Parsons is just minutes away from Elkins, Davis, Thomas, and Canaan Valley - towns with additional tourism, outdoor recreation, and heritage destinations.

Signature Events

The annual bluegrass festival “Pickin’ in Parsons” is one of the summer’s most anticipated events.  Drawing a crowd of nearly 3000 each year, this concert series allows locals and visitors alike to enjoy traditional music all day long.
