Federally Funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier 3 Ends for West Virginia

Charleston, W.Va. – Due to a decrease in West Virginia’s total unemployment rate, claimants in West Virginia will no longer be eligible for federally funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier 3 after June 24, 2012. Claimants who have established eligibility for EUC Tier 3 on or before June 24, 2012 can receive payments through week ending December 29, 2012.

Even with the end of federally funded EUC Tier 3 benefits, unemployed West Virginians will be potentially eligible to receive up to 60 weeks of unemployment compensation benefits. This change does not affect the 26 weeks of regular state funded benefits claimants are potentially eligible to receive or the 20 weeks of federally funded emergency EUC Tier 1 or the 14 weeks of federally funded EUC Tier 2 benefits which is available to claimants who have exhausted their regular benefits.  The federally funded emergency benefits are available to claimants who have exhausted their regular benefits and are still seeking employment.

WorkForce West Virginia is required by law to notify recipients of changes in their benefits. A notice has been mailed to affected claimants and additional information is online at www.workforcewv.org.
