Ecolab Recognized for Workforce Development Efforts

Charleston, W.Va – Ecolab was recently named  an “Employer of the Year” by WorkForce West Virginia for its outstanding commitment to developing a skilled workforce.  The award was presented during the Building Workforce Success Together conference sponsored by the United States Department of Labor.

Ecolab is the global leader in cleaning, sanitizing, food safety, and infection prevention products and services. The company uses WorkForce West Virginia’s On the Job Training Program at its Martinsburg plant to make sure employees are prepared for their jobs.

"This is a service that WorkForce offers to help companies hire job seekers who may need a little extra support to be a successful employee,” said Russell Fry, acting executive director of WorkForce West Virginia. “It’s just one example of how Ecolab has teamed up with WorkForce to strengthen their company.”

Ecolab has a recruiting program that supports and encourages diversity in its workforce by recruiting and hiring the best people, without regard to race, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or backgrounds. The company was named in G.I. Jobs magazine as one of the top 100 Military Friendly Employers. 

“Ecolab is well-deserving of this honor,” said Nicolas Diehl of WorkForce West Virginia, who, along with Marco Zappala, nominated the company for the award. “The company has utilized WorkKeys job profiling services to identified specific skills needed by their job openings.”

Ecolab supports the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle, March of Dimes, Toys for Tots, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and area food banks. The Ecolab Foundation helps those living in poverty and works to address the causes of t hose problems, including affordable housing, work readiness, crisis assistance and hunger relief. The Associate Matching Program matches employees’ and retirees’ contributions to community agencies.
