Direct Deposit Now Available for West Virginia Unemployment Compensation Claimants

Charleston, W.Va. — Unemployment compensation claimants in West Virginia may now receive their benefits through direct deposit, WorkForce West Virginia has announced.  Claimants may register for direct deposit services online at www.workforcewv.org.

“West Virginia is pleased to be one of only three states in the country that offer claimants all three options for benefit payment: direct deposit, a prepaid card or paper check,” said Russell L. Fry, acting executive director.  “WorkForce West Virginia is always looking for ways to improve services to our customers, and we believe that direct deposit will benefit many recipients in the state.”

Claimants who are already receiving benefit payments can register online for direct deposit at any time. New claimants must wait until they receive a monetary determination before enrolling in direct deposit.

Before registering for direct deposit, claimants are encouraged to review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on direct deposit available at www.workforcewv.org.
