What's New for 2010?Exciting adventure waits in West Virginia for 2010. From a new bridge-walk guided tour under the New River Gorge Bridge to the world’s greatest golfers teeing off at The Greenbrier Classic, there’s something new and exciting happening in the Mountain State for first-time and returning visitors.

Bridge Walk in the New River Gorge
Starting in the spring of 2010, Fayette County visitors will be able to cross a 24-inch wide walkway under the New River Gorge Bridge. The walkway runs the entire 3,030 foot length of the bridge. The New River Gorge Bridge is the largest single-span steel-arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere and the highest vehicle-carrying bridge in the United States. Bridge Walk is a cooperative venture among the West Virginia Division of Highways, the National Park Service and Bridge Walk, LLC. Recommended ages for participants range from 8 and up. Charles Town Races Slots to Include Table Games
Charles Town Races Slots in Charles Town will join Mountaineer Casino Racetrack Resort in Chester, Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling, and Mardi Gras Casino & Resort near Charleston in offering table games. A measure passed in December 2009 will allow Charles Town Races Slots to offer games such as poker, roulette and blackjack to complement amenities they already have, including more than 5,000 slot machines, live and simulcast horseracing and a wide range of food and beverage choices. The gaming resort also offers lodging accommodations on-site at The Inn at Charles Town with 153 guest rooms, including 18 spacious suites. Civil War Trails Program
A special initiative called the Civil War Trails program is in place, helping history buffs and tourists explore the War Between the States. The tragic conflict that once divided West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee and North Carolina now brings them together in an inter-state partnership that provides insight into the places, people and events of the Civil War. Currently, there are more than 1,000 sites located throughout these five states that range from major battlefields to minor skirmishes, from the birthplaces of war heroes to the homes of adventuresome spies. Approximately 30 sites within West Virginia are currently part of the program and another 40 are in the works.Sites include the Battle of Philippi, the birthplace of Gen. Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson in Clarksburg, the home of Confederate spy Belle Boyd in Martinsburg, Organ Cave and Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park. The Greenbrier Resort

  • The Greenbrier Classic: Beginning the week of July 26 – Aug. 1, 2010, the world’s greatest players will be at The Greenbrier resort for The Greenbrier Classic, a PGA TOUR, FedExCup event. The historic Old White Course will be the site for this event, which will be held for six consecutive years.
  • The Tavern Casino: The Greenbrier's newest amenity,The Tavern Casino, is now open and encompasses 3,700 square feet in a sophisticated atmosphere. Discreetly located below Prime 44 West, the facility features a variety of table games, including blackjack, roulette and three-card poker as well as 44 slots.All are in a comfortable, yet luxurious, atmosphere that guests may not have yet experienced. Hours areMonday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.,and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. Dress iscasual attire; business casual in the evening hours after 6:30 p.m.
  • The Casino at The Greenbrier: The Casino at The Greenbrier, opening in April 2010, will feature an elegant, Monte Carlo-style casino, as well as retail and dining areas. These new amenities will complement the resort’s 231-year history and add to the wide array of recreational activities.The underground complex will be discreetly located beneath the front entrance green space, which will be redesigned to include additional flower beds, pedestrian walkways and a reflecting pool.

Twin Falls Lodge Expansion in Mullens

The Twin Falls Resort lodge expansion is tentatively set to be completed in late spring of 2010.
