WVEDA APPROVES $200,000 LOAN FOR MONONGALIA SCIENTIFIC FIRM

The West Virginia Economic Development Authority (WVEDA) approved a new loan for a life sciences firm based in Morgantown during its February 2012 meeting:

- Protea Biosciences Group, $200,000, to finance equipment. Founded in 2001, Protea develops new technologies that improve the direct analysis of proteins and other biomolecules. The work is used in basic research, pharmaceutical development and diagnostic applications. International research journal The Scientist recently recognized Protea in its Top Ten Innovative Technologies awards for the year 2011.
