What is the latest news on federal unemployment compensation benefits?
On August 19, 2011, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) informed our agency that West Virginia’s
three (3) month seasonally adjusted average Total Unemployment Rate (TUR) fell below the 8.5%
threshold to remain “on” Tier 4 of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) benefits.
According to the DOL, claimants cannot establish Tier 4 eligibility after September 11, 2011. Claimants
who are already receiving Tier 4 (on or before 9/11/11) and have a benefit balance of Tier 4 can claim
the remainder of their Tier 4 entitlement.
