Tuesday Crew Day: Diana Curry

Where are you from, where are you located now, and what are your ties to WV?

I am originally from WV, but I worked in the film industry for nine years in Atlanta, GA. I now live in Linn.

What was your first job in film production and what was the experience like?

I had three or four acting roles in a feature film that shot in Tornado, WV, which was Daniel Boyd’s “Strangest Dreams: Invasion of the Space Preachers.”

What was your last job and what were you responsible for?

While in Atlanta, I worked on several projects at the same time. I wrote, produced, and directed a feature film that received distribution called “Creature of the Night.” I was an extra in “Madea Goes to Jail.” I also did make-up and some basic special effects for “The Last Goodbye.” Since I returned to WV, I haven’t really done anything film industry related. I live in a very rural area, and it’s difficult to find investors.

What advice would you give someone wanting to work in the film industry?

Start when you are young, before life pulls you away from what you really want to do. Don’t give up on your dreams, but always have a Plan B and Plan C. On a side note, since I’ve lived in WV most of my life, I’d like to get together with like-minded people and start a film studio in north central WV.
