WEST PALM BEACH, FL –   Newfoundland Films presents "Hollow Creek", written and directed by Guisela Moro. Starring Steve Daron, Guisela Moro and a special appearance by screen legend Burt Reynolds, Hollow Creek is a suspenseful thriller with a supernatural element to the story that is sure to keep audience members on the edge of their seats. Moro’s inspiration for setting the movie in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia is the wonderful Newfoundland pup “Brandy” that was given to her by RockCastle Breeders of Pineville four years ago. Brandy also happens to be in the film playing the part of the female lead’s dog.

The movie, which hopes to bring attention to Amber Alerts and missing people, was very well received by audiences at the first test screening in West Palm Beach, FL in October 2013. The next test screening will take place in Beckley, WV at Marquee Cinemas on November 23rd at 5 pm, followed by another in Towanda, PA at the Keystone Theatre on November 29th at 2 pm. Press and red carpet photos will take place an hour prior to each show. Capitalizing on local talent and amazing authentic locations, Newfoundland Films worked closely with several WV locals who helped with logistics and support throughout the entire production. The production team had strong support from the generous fire and sheriff's departments in both Ritchie and Wyoming Counties. Local residents Bugs Stover and Laura McKinney (Production Coordinator in the towns of Pineville and Mullens) were key assets to the production team.  Local talent was employed both on-screen and behind the scenes. The results of great teamwork show in the spectacular footage and production value. The movie portrays West Virginia and its beautiful locations as the unique place it is to shoot a film. The movie was granted the West Virginia film tax credit. The WV Film Commission also promoted and supported the film by featuring it at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA.

The story centers on bestselling author Blake Blackman. Seeking inspiration for his overdue horror novel, Blackman retreats to a remote cabin in the Appalachian Mountains accompanied by his girlfriend Angie. It's an area where several boys have gone missing. Complications arise when Angie witnesses a child abduction then disappears herself. Blake then becomes the prime suspect in the mysterious case.

The production began filming in Harrisville, WV, in “The Log House at Sweet Trees", owned and operated by Barbara and Russell Rogerson. “The cast and crew were all so charming and professional. Russell and I love the fact that the beauty of Sweet Trees is now preserved on film,” said Mrs. Rogers.

Pam Haynes, director of the West Virginia Film Office, was on set for part of the shoot.  “Hollow Creek” is once again honored to have the support of the West Virginia Film Office. Palm Beach County Film Commissioner Chuck Elderd and location scouters were also instrumental in securing sites for the feature film in Florida.

Playing the lead roles, actors Steve Daron and Guisela Moro collaborated as actors and writers on the film. They have worked together on multiple projects on stage and in film. Both are master actors at BRIFT, The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theater, led by Reynolds in Jupiter FL. A total of 15 BRIFT master actors were cast in the movie, including Reynolds whose performance as a coal mining tycoon is powerful and riveting.

Hollow Creek's spectacular cinematography was accomplished utilizing the Magnum Dolly System and the RED camera by Director of Photography Jon Schellenger from Cinematic Stock Footage. “We are so proud of the footage we have achieved. It's looking stellar,” said Schellenger.

The film is anticipated to be released in 2014. Links to previous news articles and clips are available upon request.
