West Virginia Main Street and ON TRAC workshops set for Feb. 8 – 9 in Parkersburg
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – Communities can learn how to build partnerships and connect with knowledgeable resources in training sessions to be held Feb. 8 through 9, in the historic Blennerhassett Hotel, 320 Market Street, Parkersburg. The event is organized by Main Street West Virginia and West Virginia ON TRAC.
Training is free to Main Street West Virginia and ON TRAC members. For non-members, a fee of $50 is due at time of registration.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, early arrivals may gather for complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages in the Hospitality Room at the Blennerhassett Hotel.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, registration begins at 8 a.m. in the hotel.
The day’s topics include:
- Rejuvenating Boards – Recruiting and Managing Effective Leaders, led by Lauren Adkins, assistant director for Field Services, National Trust Main Street Center.
- "Main Geek" Technology in Main Street, presented by Ben Muldrow, partner at Arnett Muldrow & Associates.
- Roundtable discussions on organization.
- Networking dinner in Spats Restaurant, Blennerhassett Hotel.
The evening is capped off with an option to view the displays during After-Hours at the Parkersburg Art Center on Market Street.
On Thursday, Feb. 9, registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Sessions will feature:
- Robert’s Rules of Order, presented by Roger Hanshaw, West Virginia University Extension Service.
- Committee Forum Series on Organization, facilitated by Terri Cutright, executive director, Main Street Morgantown, and Erik LaPaglia, chair, Main Street Morgantown Organization Committee.
The Main Street/ON TRAC bi-yearly training session will be followed by West Virginia’s first ON TRAC application workshop since 2009. The application session begins on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 at the Blennerhassett Hotel. Community representatives must attend the application workshop before applying to join ON TRAC. The mandatory workshop provides information about the program and techniques to help a community successfully apply for one of the few available competitive community slots.
The Main Street West Virginia and West Virginia ON TRAC programs provide technical services, such as design assistance and continuous training of board/committee members and program managers in the Main Street Four-Point Approach®. Main Street West Virginia also serves as a liaison between various state agencies and organization with designated communities. Currently there are 12 accredited Main Street Communities and 16 ON TRAC Communities in West Virginia.
