Public tour at Camp Creek State Forest scheduled for July 27, 2013

BECKLEY, W.Va. – West Virginia Division of Forestry officials will conduct a public tour at Camp Creek State Forest Saturday, July 27, 2013. This is an informational tour for the public to learn about plans for a proposed timber management project prescribed to provide more diverse wildlife habitat and forest growth potential. The proposed harvest site is in the Blue Jay Ridge area in the central part of the forest. This is the opportunity for the public to learn about the project in order to provide written input.

The tour begins at 10 a.m. Participants should gather at the Camp Creek State Forest office. Bring substantial footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, snacks and water. The tour will involve a one half to one mile hike mostly on roads and trails with an opportunity to go off trail. There are some hills along the tour path.

For more information contact Allen Waldron at the Beckley office at 304-256-6775 or via email at Allen.B.Waldron@wv.gov. If you are planning to attend, please notify Allen by noon on Thursday, July 25, so enough transportation will be available.
