Touchstone Research Laboratory recently received a new 30-foot long, 8-foot diameter autoclave designed to expand its CFOAM® production capacity. CFOAM is a lightweight, fire-resistant, and impact-absorbing structural carbon foam used in a variety of military and aerospace applications. The autoclave has an advanced heating and cooling process control system tailored specifically for CFOAM. The installation of the autoclave at the Touchstone research and manufacturing facility in Triadelphia will more than triple the company’s current production capacity to 35,000 cubic-feet of CFOAM annually. The expansion project is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Title III Defense Production Act. Touchstone is one of 27 companies in the nation selected to take part in the Title III Program.
