Charleston, W.Va – Northwood Health Systems was recently named an “Employer of the Year” by WorkForce West Virginia for its outstanding commitment to developing a skilled workforce. The award was presented during the Building Workforce Success Together conference sponsored by the United States Department of Labor.
Northwood provides mental health services for people in Wheeling and surrounding communities. The company employs approximately 500 people. Northwood regularly sponsors and organizes job fairs as well as offering mentoring and job shadowing opportunities.
“This employer is making a difference in many people’s lives, both their own workers and those who need services,” said Russell Fry, acting executive director of WorkForce West Virginia.
“Northwood is well-deserving of this honor,” said Christy Yeager, One Stop Operator Coordinator with the Northern Panhandle Workforce Investment Board, who nominated the company for the award. “Their employees make the community a better place to live by donating their money, time, and services to local charities.”
Northwood Health Systems offers a sliding pay scale and a payment assistance program to help lower income individuals who may not be able to afford mental health care.
