Never climbed a rock wall or shot a clay pigeon or rode a zip line before? No problem! In West Virginia there are places that help you enjoy high adventure, even if you have low experience.

Rock Clmbing Rock Climbing
Via ferrata means “iron road” in Italian. It’s also a description of a rare type of rock climbing style that allows even first-timers to enjoy true mountain terrain – from the side of a cliff!
An Outdoors Retreat An Outdoors Retreat
The Matrix is real! That’s what they call a unique five level platform for shooting clay pigeons at North River Retreat in Hampshire County. Pull!
Biking Rail Trails Biking Rail Trails
Rail trails are perfect for beginners and bikers who aren’t up to mountain biking. West Virginia has more than 375 miles of nearly-level trails that have been converted from abandoned train rail paths.
Adventures on the Gorge Adventures on the Gorge
This is where you go for one-stop adventures in whitewater rafting, zip lines and treetop canopy tours. Even beginners can join the fun!
RAGIN Outdoor Fitness Adventures RAGIN Outdoor Fitness Adventures
Name your own outdoor adventure. RAGIN staff work with you or your group to plan day hiking, backpacking, tent or rustic cabin camping, and even deluxe cabin overnight stays for the less adventurous.
Winter High Adventure Winter High Adventure
You can continue your high adventure tour of West Virginia on skis and snowboards this winter, and not just at the usual resorts. Oglebay Park in Wheeling has new facilities for downhill and snowboarding, while White Grass Cross Country Skiing in Tucker County has some of the best in cross country skiing and snow shoeing. They both take care of first-timers as well as experienced snow enthusiasts.
