This orientation is the first step in finding the services you need. Provides an overview of the services available through the Workforce West Virginia system and the steps to accessing them.
WorkForce West Virginia
is a network of workforce development services designed to provide West Virginia's citizens and employers the opportunity to compete in today’s competitive global economy. By making available the appropriate educational and training opportunities, West Virginia can provide its citizens with the work skills needed by businesses currently in the state or planning a West Virginia location.
WorkForce Services
WorkForce West Virginia is a one-stop center for workforce resources, including the following services:
Job Seeker Services
include referrals to job opportunities, career counseling, resume services, training/education resources and funding.
Veteran Services
ensure that qualified veterans have priority consideration in job opportunities.
Dislocated Workers Services provide on-site assistance to workers & employers who experience mass dislocations through rapid response services, administration of Trade Adjustment Assistance training program, assistance with Work Opportunity Tax credits for hiring employees from target populations.
Employer Services
include recruitment and screening assistance, training award information, Governor’s Guaranteed Workforce Program, WorkKeys
®
assessments and job profiles, and tax credit information.
Unemployment Compensation
services administer benefits to claimants and employer contributions to the program.
Labor Market Information
tracks employment data and trends.
The agency is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Labor.
WorkForce Regions and Locations
West Virginia is divided into seven regions that administer programs funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
The state agency administers labor market services funded by the Wagner Peyser Act. State services are available at local career centers listed on the
