Corhart Refractories, part of the Saint-Gobain Corporation, located in Buckhannon, W.Va., is the world’s leading manufacturer of specialty refractories for reinforcement and insulation fi berglass, specialty glass, and container glass.

Accessing the services of the Governor’s Guaranteed Workforce Program, Corhart provided customized, on-site training for 17 existing workers who expressed an interest in participating in an apprenticeship program to become tradespersons. Workers enrolled in this training signifi cantly increased their value to the organization, and were provided an opportunity for an increased standard of living on a personal level. As other workers learned about the benefi ts of this program, they were encouraged to apply for apprenticeship openings, resulting in the hiring of individuals to fi ll entry level positions elsewhere within the facility.

Outside of Corhart Refractories“Productivity and uptime of Corhart equipment is a key factor in meeting customer requirements,” said Cohart Human Resource Manager Mike Pasternak.

“Training geared specifi cally to our organization provides employees with the knowhow needed to provide quality service for the world-wide customer base of Corhart Refractories,” Pasternak said.
