The coaching function of the SBDC program is the principal method of providing assistance to the small business community. Through coaching, the SBDC conveys the information most needed by the entrepreneur to plan and start a business and keep the business operating on a profitable basis.

A primary asset of the SBDC is its designation as a "one-stop" business startup center. The SBDC can provide virtually all of the preliminary information and paperwork needed to legally open a business, including information on licensing, taxes, insurance, recordkeeping, and the information needed for hiring employees, such as Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Insurance. If you would like to receive this confidential one-on-one counseling, make an appointment for a free consultation by clicking on one of the West Virginia Small Business Development Centers listed below.
