Moncove Lake State Park is tucked away among the hills on the southeastern edge of the state. Located in the pastoral setting of Monroe County, Moncove Lake State Park seems worlds away from everyday realities. With all park facilities located within easy walking distance, this is the place to enjoy the simple things in life. Moncove Lake contains 250 acres designated as a state park as well as an adjoining 500 acre Wildlife Management Area and 144 acre lake. Originally created in 1960, the Moncove Lake area was managed as Moncove Lake Hunting and Fishing Area until 1990, when 250 acres was set aside as a state park. The remainder of the land continues to be managed as a Wildlife Management Area. For those who prefer outdoor activities, Moncove Lake and the surrounding area provide ample opportunities for fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, bird watching, and hiking.
