Finding excitement, entertainment and possibly even riches is a sure bet at any of West Virginia’s five gaming centers. Would you rather cheer a horse or greyhound around the track or test your luck at the slots? No gambling? Maybe you just want to take advantage of their dining, shopping, and lodging amenities. These state-of-the-art facilities can provide fun for all.

 

Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort Live thoroughbred horse racing is an attraction at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in Chester — only an hour’s drive from Pittsburgh, along with simulcast racing, table games, more than 3,000 slots, concerts and sporting events. The Grande Hotel provides relaxation following a day on the Woodview Golf Course or a meal at either La Bonne Vie Steakhouse or Big Al’s Hot Rod Café.

Home of the West Virginia Breeders Classic horse race, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is only a short drive from D.C. More than 4,000 slot machines are scattered throughout themed areas, including those representing Hollywood and the OK Corral. The Inn at Charles Town offers free shuttles to one of the nine restaurants on the grounds, including The Skyline Terrace overlooking the track.

Evening greyhound racing is enjoyed year-round near Charleston at the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort. Along with nationwide simulcast racing, there are new table games and 1,800 slots for all budgets—including some penny machines. Live jazz and R&B bands accompany the affordable French Quarter Restaurant and Lounge and can be heard throughout the New Orleans-themed Mardi Gras gaming area.  The Mardi Gras West Virginia Hotel connects by covered walkway to the gaming floor.

Wheeling Island Hotel - Casino - Racetrack possesses a tropical flair at its greyhound track, 2,400 slot and table-game equipped attraction. The hotel offers three different room types in different price ranges and house four restaurants, such as the Breezeway Café overlooking the gaming floor, or the Islander Buffet and its smorgasbord of choices.

The Greenbrier's Casino Club at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, combines Southern charm with classic Monte Carlo-style elegance.
