Northern Panhandle

Northern Panhandle RegionHistorically and geographically, the Northern Panhandle has been an important point of confluence, almost a magical place. It was home to the Adena people, the last battle of the American Revolution, the coming of the National Road, the first bridge across the Ohio River, and an industrial boom that spawned vast fortunes and Victorian mansions. In 1863, the state of West Virginia was born in Wheeling. Thoroughbred horses and greyhound dogs lead the way to slot machines and table games.
